RAW(e) 2-6

This week's theme over at Sailor & Company's RAW(w) challenge is to take the 6th picture out of the second photo folder on the computer. I have not deleted pictures off my computer in forever so this one dates all the way back to February of 2008. This is my grandma with her 2-month-old great-granddaughter, my niece Olivia Louise. What a great moment captured.

Monday, July 19

The Calumet Inn in Pipestone. Dave and I both worked here early in our marriage. Dave was the kitchen manager and I was a waitress / hostess. I love the red stone of the building. Good memories here!

Tuesday, July 20

The orange sign of the Villager Restaurant in Pipestone. I worked here in high school from the time I was 16 until I graduated. Good memories and good food.




Wednesday, July 21

The Pizza Ranch in Pipestone. Tricia and Ryleigh love to come here for the buffet. They both love that they can go back to the different buffet tables to fill their plates again and again. When we order take-out, the girls watch for the yellow delivery car.




Thursday, July 22

Go Arrows! Go Big Green! This is the sign at the "new" middle/high school. It has been around for a few years and actually, the sign is showing its age a little bit. The Service Cooperative will be moving the office out here on Friday.




Friday, July 23

I see this blue barn every day when I leave the house to head to work. The girls start asking about the first week in July how long it is until the fair. They love to frequent the children's barn to see the baby animals ... and to check for giveaway puppies.




Saturday, July 24

Ahh, the Pipestone Family Aquatic Center. I actually have not even been there yet this summer. Our Fridays are filled to the max. The girls have been going a few times a week with Grandma Peg. I can see this indigo-colored sign from my office window.




Sunday, July 25

This is the skateboard park in Pipestone. I have often wondered why they chose this violet color ... doesn't seem very "skateboard-cool" to me.



So did you guess my theme?

I totally copied another Project Life post from a few weeks ago. Well copied, but gave it my own spin. Remember ROY G BIV? Red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, violet ... the colors of the rainbow. I wandered around town and found landmarks / special locations around town to do a rainbow tour of town. So I hope you enjoyed a little peak at my hometown!

Project Life Tuesday

Here we are again, another Tuesday which always means that it is time for more Project Life pictures. I promise that someday I will post something besides Project Life. I really hope to do a weekly recap of school stuff once my student teaching starts in the fall. But for now, Project Life is what you get!

Monday, July 12

We finally got the lien release card for Dave's Kia. Tricia and Dave came home with a whopping $700 to get the thing out of our lives. Who would have thought we'd get excited over $700? At least we were able to get a little for the darn thing that blew up long before it was paid off.



Tuesday, July 13

Tonight Ryleigh made supper for the girls. Well part of it anyway ... she helped me make the mini pigs in a blanket that both girls BEG to have all the time.




Wednesday, July 14

As part of the Creating Keepsakes Summer Camp I was participating in this week, I finally organized my scrap pile. I had so many scraps that I had to put them in two of these large bags. One good thing about having lots of scraps ... it means I've been scrapbooking a little bit lately.




Thursday, July 15

Another Summer Camp idea ... use bleach pens to draw on a shirt. I bought each of the girls a new tank top (clearance from Pamida) and let them draw on their shirt. Totally did not work though! We'll see what happens once the shirts are washed, but for now, they just look like plain pink and purple shirts. Bummer.




Friday, July 16

Ryleigh wanted her nails painted today ... one hand green and the other purple. Then she put on a pretty sundress to go watch Tricia's swimming lessons. Love this girl's freckles!




Saturday, July 17

The girls decided that they would play maid today. They fashioned a cleaning cart out of Ry's shopping cart and went around the house cleaning. Of course, I am not sure what hotel would hire cleaning ladies who cannot be bothered to get dressed:) To be honest, Tricia did do quite a bit of cleaning this weekend while I was in a prone position on the couch with a killer migraine. She is trying to earn some allowance to buy a new American Girl doll.




Sunday, July 18

The clouds before the storm last night were too cool! They looked like little pillows in the sky. Some places got some major storms, but we just got rain and some wind. Thankfully we have pretty much missed the big storms and just gotten a ton of rain this summer.



Oh, and just for the sake of full disclosure ... lots of these pictures were taken all on one day, but I was terrible with the camera this week and we crammed a lot of activities into a couple days. I am planning a "theme" for next week, hopefully I can manage to get the right pictures on the right days.

RAW(e) Desserts

I almost forgot about the RAW(e) contest this week. Lucky for me, I jumped on this morning to check out the topic. YUMMY! Desserts!

This is a picture I took of some of my mint fudge that I make a Christmas time every year. This stuff is so delicious and so sweet! I can't stop eating it once I start!

Creating Keepsakes Summer Camp

I spent some more time working on my "merit badges" for CK Summer Camp tonight. I am enjoying these brief spurts of scrapbooking. My life has not allowed for much time to scrap in the last three years, even though it truly is one of my favorite things to do. I'll attach links to each of the badges I've earned so far.

Orienteering

My first badge was simply for Orienteering ... walking my way through the CK Summer Camp site to check it out. Here is a link to the article on the site.

Getting to Know You and Flag-Raising

I did this layout to complete two different activities. The first was to include myself in my scrapbook. If you know me at all, you know this is something I do not do enough. So I made a page with my picture with the president of the university on graduation day.

The second activity was to use pennants, which are used in this layout for the title.

First Aid

The next activity was to "fix-up" a layout to earn my first aid badge. One of the ideas was to include dimensional items on the page. "Flat-lining" is something that happens a lot in my scrapbook. I just can't take the time to do all that extra stuff ... slap on some paper and the pictures and call it a layout! So for this one, I used some wood accents on the page of the picture that the girls had to win the Cutie Contest.

Nature Walk

Next up was the nature walk badge. For this layout we were to use nature-inspired product on the page. I used a stamping mask to create this bird on a page that will highlight pictures of mama and baby robins.

Organization

Then there is the organization merit badge. Hmm, not my strong point, right mom? But I was able to take my mess of scrap paper and organize them by color. I even went so far as to put them in ROY G BIV order because that is how I roll :)

Photography

Finally, the photography merit badge. Right up my alley! These were two pictures I had previously taken that fulfilled the criteria for earning the badge.

First is a details picture. I had taken this picture to use as one of my Project Life pictures, but it fits as a close-up picture of nature.



Second is a picture that meets the rule of thirds. I am fairly certain this one is pretty close to the rule of thirds. The sky is the top third, the tree line is the middle third, and the water is the final third. This was also a picture of the day for Project Life, taken at Split Rock Creek State Park in Ihlen.





I still have a few badges to earn, but I needed to wait until I was home with the kids to do a craft with them. On the agenda tomorrow is to use a bleach pen (like Tide) to create t-shirts for the girls.

Can't wait to see what is in store for the "campers" tomorrow!

Project Life Tuesday

Monday, July 5

Dave saw an ice cream machine on sale at the Wally World this weekend and just had to have it. He and Tricia tried it out today and made some DELICIOUS homemade vanilla ice cream.





Tuesday, July 6

Dave dug the baby pool out of the garage to see what Holly would think. She was not too certain at first, but quickly decided that playing in the pool was great fun and kept her nice and cool! Unfortunately, he had also just mowed the lawn, so the water turned to a muddy, grassy mess in a hurry.




Wednesday, July 7

We got the Pipestone Star today and saw this lovely picture in color on the last page. It was a recap of the Watertower Festival. The girls had each just picked out their new American Girl / Bitty Baby outfits from one of the vendors.




Thursday, July 8

BIG BROTHER, baby! Tricia and I were excited to watch the first night of the new season. The first challenge was pretty funny as the contestants tried to cling to a giant hot dog as it sailed across the grill below. We THINK we might know who the saboteur is.




Friday, July 9

This picture was actually taken Thursday, but I didn't get any decent pictures today. Tricia is in tennis again this summer. They started learning to serve. Tricia's form on her serve was really good. She was able to hit it over the net every time she served. (You can see the ball she just hit up in the top right of this picture.)




Saturday, July 10

We spent the weekend up in Clear Lake at Diane's house because Steve was home from Colorado and Ted from California. As the sun was setting, a storm was rolling in and the clouds were great. It never did actually storm, but it rained just a bit.




Sunday, July 11

There were several of these guys flying around Diane's all weekend. This one was kind enough to sit still long enough to get a picture. My question is ... butterfly or moth? Pretty sure it is a moth.

CK Summer Camp

I am going to try to do something for myself this week. I am participating in Creating Keepsakes Summer Camp. Maybe I'll get some inspiration and scrap a page or two and enter them in the gallery.

I just earned my first merit badges; one for Orienteering - I took a quick tour around the Summer Camp website; and one for the flag ceremony - I made a quick layout using banners or pennants.
